2 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 19, 1923 PEACE PROGRAM Illinois Leader to Attend European Conference What leaders of women in Europe think American women can do for the cause of peace will be made pub- lic in July, if Mrs. Maud Wood Park's plans go well. At the recent convention of the Na- tional League of Women Voters, she, as president of the organization, and head of the league's delegation to the congress of the International Woman Suffrage Alliance in Rome, was authorized to select two women from that delegation and travel with them through Italy, France, and Germany, interviewing women of prominence on what effective peace' work they be- lieve American women can do, and recording their views fér the informa- tion not only of organized women in the United States but of the general public. Mrs. Park, who "is .on her way to Rome where the congress begins this week, has selected Mrs. Gifford Pin- chot, of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. James Morrisson, of Illinois, daughter of Dudley Foulke, to make up the in- formal commission of inquiry, mak- ing her choice from a list which in- cludes as delegates Mrs. Frank J. Shuler, New York; Dr. Katherine Davis, New York; Frederick Nathan, New York; Mrs. James Paige, Min- nesota. Mrs. Ann Webster, New Mex- ico; Mrs. W. Y. Morgan; Kansas; Miss Caroline Roberts, Maryland; Mrs. Craig Miller, Michigan; and Mrs. John Jay O'Connor, District of Columbia. The list of alternates is: Miss Alice Howell, Nebraska; Mrs. Julian Nathan, France; Mrs. Gene- vieve Parkhurst, New York; Mrs. Evie Prendergast, New York; Mrs. John T. Murphy, New Mexico. National Scout Council To Be Held July 9 and 10 The fourteenth annual meeting of the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, will be held in New York City, July 9 and 10. The develop- ment of out-of-door life will receive special emphasis, and at least one of the sessions of the meeting will be held at the Boy Scout Camps, In- terstate Palisade Park, N. Y., which are the largest boys' camps in the world. This yearly meeting brings to- gether in the interests of Scouting and American boyhood, men of every walk of life. The National Council is composed of over one thousand men, many of whom are nationally prominent in the church, school, bus- iness and professional worlds.
