In conjunction with the launch- ing, the Domestic Science department will hold a Bake sale and Food exhibit, the sewing classes will sponsor a fashion show and the Physical Education de- partment will "run off' a few races and conduct a baseball game between a North Shore Country Day team and a Skokie nine. Festivities for the children and their parents and friends will commence at 1 o'clock in the afternoon when the girls of the sewing classes throw open the doors on one of the finest fashion shows that Winnetka has ever witnessed. At the same time the Domestic Science classes are going to sell candies, cookies and lemonade. The work in both the do- mestic science and sewing exhibits has been done by Skokie children under the direction of Miss Helen Beales and Miss Hazel Wissman. Prize for Best Models At 2 o'clock the crowd will repair to the Skokie pond where the annual launching of the model boats built hy children along the north shore will he held. At the same time the results of the boat-building contest will be announc- ed. Various prizes are being offered for the best model of an historic ship and other types of vessels. After the launch- ing a picked team from the Country Day school will play a Skokie nine in a championship game. It is also, probable that a few foot races will be run be- tween certain picked boys irom the Skokie school. The last event on the day's program will be the food sale that pupils of the Domestic Science department will con- duct at the Skokie school. All sorts of nut breads, cakes and cookies will be on sale. Former patrons of the school's tood sale will remember the quality of the food that is prepared in the Skokie kitchens. Proceeds trom the sale will be used to pay tor the dish-washing ma- chine that was purchased some weeks ago tor the domestic science department. Kindergarten College Has Its Commencement North Shore alumnae and friends of the National Kindergarten and Ele- mentary college are invited to attend a lecture on "The Modern Kinder- garten" by Miss Louise Alder, head of the Kindergarten Department of Milwaukee Normal School, to be given in the assembly hall of the Col- lege, 2944 Michigan Blvd, Chicago, this morning, June 2, at 10:30 o'clock. This address is part of the Com- mencement week program of the col- lege, which imcludes several interest- ing features. An outstanding one is the annual party for children of mis- sion schools in which Seniors of the college are directors. The children look forward to this for weeks, and after being properly tagged to guard against "loss in transit" are escorted to the park for a morning of games, the crowning glory of which is the distribution of flowers, paper caps and ice cream "all fer nothin" as one child remarked in utmost amazement. Another play day this year will be the Class day on the new campus grounds at Evanston-Wilmette. The students were so delighted with their autumn visit to their future home that they insisted on having this included in the Commencement calender. These events, and the Senior prom at the Ambassador hotel, will be fol- lowed by the 27th annual commence- ment, which will be held in the First Presbyterian church, Chicago, at 3 o'clock Thursday, June 7, the address being given by the Rev. Charles W. | Gilkey of Hyde Park Baptist church.
