Drew's Italian garden over-looking the lake, in Evanston. Bunco and five hundred will also be played. Although Mrs. Drew is in deep mourning, she is allowing the use of her residence for the benefit of the Rosary college for girls, in accordance with plans made by the Rosary College Benefactor's league many months ago, before the death of her little daughter, Margherita, late last winter. More than 300 tables have been sold for the affair, with the possibility of admission at the gate to add to the num- ber of guests already in prospect. About three o'clock the horde descended upon the lawn of Mrs. Douglas Smith where children and grown-ups of the Winnetka Congrega- tional church were assembled before a gorgeously bedecked summer Christmas Tree. Shortly after the arrival of Santa, same Mother Goose who was heartily greeted by Santa and entertained with an account of his recent trip to India and China. Then the Chinese and Indian children whom Santa had brought back with him further entertained Mother Goose, and incidentally the audience, by singing songs in their native tongue, re- citing Chinese Mother Goose rhymes (translated into English) and playing Chinese and Indian games. The program, interrupted by the rain, was completed on Mrs. Smith's spacious porch where refreshments were served. At the close of the afternoon the gifts brought by the big and little Winnet- kans were gathered up, filling several clothesbaskets, and will be sent early in July to the Reynolds and Wolsteds, the church missionaries in China and India, where they will bring happiness to several hundred boys and girls next Christmas.
