Haarth, Moderator, and a musicale program by the Steinway Art Duo, with Burton Thatcher, baritone, and William Heller, pianist, will augment the afternoon's entertainment. Monsignor Kelly, noted churchman and author, will give an interesting talk on "Catholic Church Extension Work in the United States," Mrs. Dwight C. Orcutt, Doctor of Music, and the very talented music chairman of the Tenth District, will present piano numbers. November 14, by the courtesy of the Skokie Country club, the League will give a bridge and five hundred party for philanthropic purposes. December 13, Mrs, Anita Willetts Burnham, renowned artist from our own north shore, whose most interesting paintings and sketches are now on ex- hibition at Carson Pirie Scott and Com- pany, will talk on "Travelling Abroad with a Family of Six and a Paint Box." The programs throughout the balance of the season will be equally entertain- ing. It is the desire of the various committees that the ensuing year be successful both socially and financially. H B., WARNER and the cast now playing at the Playhouse will give a performance of "You and I" be- fore Northwestern university alumnae, and their friends, Monday night, Octo- ber 8. Mrs. Homer Bang, treasurer of the committee, said yesterday at the women's campaign headquarters, that the receipts will materially assist the alumnae of Northwestern in building up their special fund of $350,000 for the erection of women's buildings and dormitories at Evanston. Northwestern night at the Playhouse will be dedicated to the spirit of the university. Northwestern girls will serve as ushers and they will wear the purple of their alma mater. "Northwestern night" for the benefit of the HANS HESS CONCERTO SOON Mr. Hans Hess' studio has opened with the largest Fall enrollment in his teach- ing experience. He also reports a large attendance in his North Shore classes which are being held at his residence studio in Highland Park. ISS Annette Lotz gave a demon- stration of Dalcroze and Euryth- mic dancing to a few mothers and children on Tuesday afternoon. Music rendered by Miss Flentye was an inspiration in itself and a term spent in learning to interpret such music should be a good foundation for musical ap- preciation. This will appeal to mothers who desire to cultivate the best in their children. The mothers who were present were completely won by the unselfcon- scious ease, grace and rythm ex- pressed by the joyous dancers. Miss Lotz staged the "Blue-Bird" at Ravinia this summer and is thor- oughly competent to instruct a class of this kind. Those who are interest- ed are invited to come next Tuesday afternoon to see either the class at 3:30 or 4:30 at the Woman's Club o Wilmette. KINDERGARTEN CLUB MEETING The Chicago Kindergarten Club will hold the opening meeting of the year next Saturday morning, October 6, at 10:45, in the Eleanor Club Rooms, Stevens Building, Chicago. Indian Princess to Sing Many of Cadman's Songs HE Woman's Club of Wilmette will open its club year with a reception to its officers on October 10, at 2 o'clock, which will be followed by a musicale given by Charles Wake- field Cadman and Princess Tsianina. Mr. Cadman is considered one of the foremost American composers and pian- ists. From the early Indian tribal melo- dies, he has composed many beautiful songs and pieces for the piano and other musical instruments. He has also writ- ten four operas "Daonia," "Garden of Mystery," "A Witch of Salem" and lastly "Shanewis" which has been sung with great success by the Metropolitan Opera company No one interprets his songs as does Princess Tsianina whose success has not only been achieved in this country but also abroad. She is a Cherokee Creek Indian by birth and has received her musical training under the foremost masters of voice culture, and become the greatest woman singer of the Indian race, She wrote the theme of the opera "Shanewis" which is in part a story of her life.- She has a beautiful voice and interprets Mr. Cadman's music with a rare charm.
