The Chicago, North Shore and Mil- waukee Electric railway, in competi- tion with electric railways in various parts of the United States, has won the Charles A. Coffin prize award made to the railroad submitting the best brief indicating what that road, through meritorious operation, has done toward popularizing electric rail- roads. The Coffin prize consists of a medal to the company and a cash award of $1,000 to the Employes' Mutual Benefit association. Britton I. Budd, presi- dent of the North Shore line accepted the medal on behalf of the railroad and Louis Homan, had of the benefit society received the $1,000 for that organization within the company. An- nouncement of the award was made recently at the American Electric T..iiway convention in Atlantic City. NT. The brochure submitted by the North Shore line is a beautifully il- 'ustrated, superlative example of the typographers' art, comprising a graphic presentation of the road's ac- tivities and program for providing the best possible service for the territory it serves. BUSINESS MEN PLAN TRIP TO MILWAUKEE Members of the New Trier Commer- cial association who co-operated to make a success of the annual New Trier Day festivities, are to receive a special re- ward Monday evening, October 29, in the nature of a holiday excursion to Mil- waukee via one of the palatial North Shore line parlor car-diner specials. The men will dine enroute and enjoy a first class variety performance at Mil- waukee. At the regular association meeting this week Leo M. Dean was appointed chair- man of the recently established Civics committee. Harry M. Bachman, representative of the Wilmette I mprovement association, appeared at the meeting to seek means whereby that organization and the Com- mercial association might co-operate in furthering civic advancement in the vil- lage.
