SEEKING MORE MEMBERS Want Every Resident of South Section Enrolled in Big Civic Body CANVASS ALL HOMES Circulars Proclaim Many Advantages The Indian Hill Improvement asso- ciation is out to enroll every resident of the village whose home is located south of and including Willow street as an active member of the organiza- tion. Through its Membership committee, headed by H. T. Hyath, and including twenty of the most active members of the association, a personal can- vass of the entire neighborhood is to be made. It is anticipated that, as a result of this campaign, the asso- ciation will have a larger member- ship than any other similar civic organization on the north shore. As a preliminary to the canvass, a very effective circular was placed in every household in the district. The circular, from which the follow- ing is quoted, reviews the history of the organization and sets forth the basis for its claim to the unanimous support of the community. Study Civic Needs "The Indian Hill Improvement as- sociation is an organization new in its sixth vear, organized for the good of the community; to study its needs; to protect its interests; to direct its growth: to promote community pride and a neighborly spirit among its people. Meetings arc held monthly at the Greeley school. These meetings are given over not merely to business matters affecting the community, but also include entertainment features, dancing and refreshments. Ample opportunity is thus afforded for all to meet and become better acquainted with their neighbors. Helps District The association has been a real fac- tor in Indian Hill's development. It has improved .train service; brought aout better station facilities; fos- tered and is primarily responsible for the Indian Hill park, the accomplish- ment of which not only beautified the entire district, but forestalled the otherwise certain coming of a com- mercial section on its site; had our bathing beach kept clean last sum-| mer; fostered a weed ordinance sub- | sequently passed by the V illage Coun- | cil; had erected fountains in the Elder l.ane and Station Parks; developed a community spirit unrivalled along the north shore. "PRIDE OF PALOMAR" AT COMMUNITY MOVIES A story of California with a power- ful theme is "The Pride of Palomar," a Cosmopolitan production from Peter B. Kyne's noted novel of the same name, which will be at the Community House next Friday. The leading roles are portrayed by Marjorie Daw and Forrest Stanley. The story tells of the struggle of a World War veteran against crush- ing interests in his native state, the fight centering around the possession of the family ranch, which he finds on his return from overseas service, has all but fallen into the hands of the enemy. Making the story highly dramatic is the fact that the father of the girl whom the young man loves heads the opposing interests. There will be two shows, one at 7:15 and one at 8:45 o'clock.
