Goddard Cheney. Mrs. Cheney is in turn leading a committee in charge of the grade li- braries of the lower school, insuring through her service on both committees, library efficiency and co-operation throughout the school. The idea of the committee is to de- velop in every way possible, good read- ing habits from the lowest grades through the high school, and to make cach child at home with the use of a library of books on all subjects. The Upper School library is in the Study hall and the Lower school libre ries in the grade rooms in the form of "cozy corners"--all as attractive as possible to the child doing reference work or the proud possessor of margins of time. Arnold Downing Dies At Glencoe Residence Funeral services for Arnold M. Down- ing, who passed away Sunday, Novem- ber 18, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Francis S. Graham, 446 Washington avenue, Glencoe, were held Monday af- ternon, November 19, from residence. Burial was at Oneida, New York. Mr. Downing, former department manager for the American Tobacco company, was 70 years old and well known on the north shore.
