The music department of the Win- netka Woman's club, Mrs. Everett L. Harris, chairman, announces for the program on January 26, Burton That- cher, baritone; William Beller, pianist, using the Steinway Duo-Art. Mr. Thatcher has an unusually beau- tiful voice, cultivated by untiring ef- fort, and directed by sound musician- ship. He has filled more important oratorio and symphony orchestra en- gagements than probably any other baritone in the West. He has appeard with the Chicago Symphony orchestra don, prominent north side SPEAKS AT BANQUET George R. Benson, 210 Melrose ave- nue, Kenilworth, was one of the speak- ers on the program at the Palmer House last Friday night at a banquet which was given by 150 friends and business associaties of Soren T. Cory- business man, who recently was elevated to the Knighthood of Dennebrog by the Danish government as a reward for his relief activities in behalf of the people of Schleswig during the World War. Consul General R. Bauman, George Rasmussen, and Dr. A. Dorf were also on the program. LUNCHEON FOR BRIDE Mrs. James Prindiville will be hos- tess at luncheon and bridge Monday, January 18, at her home, 151 Euclid avenue, in honor of Miss Margaret Mercer of Winnetka, whose marriage takes place Saturday, January 23. in Chicago twice, and on tour ten times, with the Minneapolis Symphony | orchestra, four times, and the St. Louis | Symphony, nine times. He has also | appeared with the North Shore Festival | five times, as soloist with the Apollo | club, Chicago. Mr. Beller has the combination of youth and personality, only experience is necessary to make the prophecies of the critics a reality. In 1921, he won the Mason and Hamlin Piano prize, and jn June 1925, the national prize in the biennial contest conducted by the National Federation of Music clubs at Portland, Ore. in which hundreds of young American artists competed.
