Martin of Winnetka is proving an invaluable aid to Di- rector Alexander Dean in the forth- coming North Shore Theatre Guild production of Sheridan's operetta "The Duenna." In addition to doing three dances herself, Mrs. Martin is assisting in the training of the other dancers in the intricate steps of the Spanish dances. Mrs. Martin will dance the Sevillanas, the Magaluenas and the Garrotin, three authentic renderings of popular dances from the Academy of Otero, Seville. She has spent years of study with students of the Academy of Otero and is well qualified to handle her role. Dr. Davies Lazear of Winnetka has one of the leading roles and all those who are acquainted with his superb voice will realize the treat in store for them. Mrs. John Marshall of Win- netka is playing the title role and af- fords much comedy as the old har- ridan who upsets all the plans of stern parents and unwelcome suitors to the hand of her charge. Best Guild Production Those who have kept in touch with progress being made on this produc- tion assert unhesitatingly that it is to be the finest thing the Guild has ever done. The nine different sets of scenery, the magnificent costumes and the orchestra of solo artists from Chi- cago will contribute their part along with the skill of the actors and the directorial genius of Mr. Dean. To those interested in the purely musical side of the production it will be of interest to know that Isaac Van Grove, former conductor of the Chi- cago Civic Opera, is in charge of the music. The original score of "The Duenna," as it was produced in 1775 by Sheridan at Drury Lane, London, is now in the British museum and those in a position to know state the score for the Guild production is even better than the music of "The Beg- gars Opera." The production will play in Wil- mette tonight; Highland Park, Feb- ruary 15; Lake Forest, February 16; Evanston, February 17 and 18, and Winnetka, February 19 and 20. New Trier Cage Teams Defeat Rockford Fives New Trier High school cagers did it again last Saturday, both teams defeat- ing Rockford High school basketball squads in the games played at the New Trier gymnasium. The score in the heavyweight game was 30-12, while the lightweights defeated their opponents to the tune of 26-10. Earlier in the sea- son, on Rockford's home floor, New Trier was beaten by both teams. This was one of the few defeats suf- fered by the Grays and Green warriors this season. 'This Friday evening the New Trier fives will journey to Oak Park for two games. Special trains on the North Shore line will leave the Indian Hill station at 5:15 o'clock and will make the entire trip to Oak Park and return, it was announced. A large number of stu- dents are expected to take advantage of this unusual opportunity to go to the games without the inconvenience of changing trains several times.
