The speakers will be Prof. J. Fred Rippy, of the University of Chicago; Prof. Samuel Guy Inman, of Columbia university; Prof. Jacob Viner, of Chi- cago university; Prof. Jesse S. Reeves of University of Michigan; Prof. Quin- cy Wright, University of Chicago; and Walter Lichtenstein, of the First Na- tional bank, who will discuss "Invest- ments in Latin America." "Latin America," it is stated, "seems destined to be the center of the stage in world politics because of its great natural resources, its unoccupied terri- tory, and unstable governments. Pan- Americanism is one of the great inter- national problems for North America to face. The problems coming up at the next Pan-American conference need to be discussed now if public opinion is to have a share in their solu- tion." There is a small admission charge for non-members. Meeting Ouilmette council, Knights of Co- lumbus, undoubtedly is promoting one of the biggest pre-Lenten events on the north shore Monday evening, Feb- ruary 15, at the Wilmette Woman's club when a musicale will be given and Dr. F. J. Seidenburg, dean of the schools of sociology and law at Loy- ola university, will address the knights and their friends. His subject will be "Evolution in Its Relation to Chris- tianity." The artists appearing on the musical program have not been announced but it is certain that a prominent soprano will begin the evening's entertainment. She will be followed by an equally capable harpist. Dr. Seidenburg's lec- ture, which is the feature of the affair, will conclude the program. No admission will be charged and it is expected that the club house will be taxed to capacity. REVIEWS BOOK A large north shore representation heard Mrs. Benjamin F. Langworthy of Winnetka read "Sister Beatrice," the story upon which Morris Gest's famous production, "The Miracle" is based, at the open meeting of the Cur- rent Book review of the Woman's City club of Chicago Wednesday. Tea was served following the reading. Miss Eileen Thiehoff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Thiehoff, 1172 Hamptondale road, has returned from a visit with friends and relatives in Detroit.
