Without arguing its validity, it doesn't apply to the Sunday Evening Service, 8 o'Clock Winnetka Congregational Church As an inspiration for the new week An example to our children, a support to a deserving new departure in the activi- ties of the church and the community... On Sunday every other household visited was out en- joying the sunshine and balmy temper- ature, while the blizzard and chill evenings of the week have made an appeal to remain by the home fireside, which campaign workers had to strug- gle against. Nevertheless, renewals and new subscriptions are being obtained in good 'numbers, and it is hoped that in another week the requisite amount to complete the budget estimates ($12,- 000) will be in sight. Those who have not yet signed pledges are reminded by the Board of Governors that the considerable in- crease in activity at the House during the present year has likewise increased the running expenses for labor, light, fuel, repairs, and administration. A slightly larger subscription from each contributor and some new ones will enable the Governors to make both ends meet. Tells Center Uses In a recent comment in reply to the query : "Who uses Community House?" Miss Mary Williams, secre- tary of the center, had the following report: During the year 1925 the week-day attendance at Community House was 111,608. There was in addition an at- tendance of 20,653 on Sundays, mak- | ing a total of 132,261 as recorded in group meetings. In addition to these, | there are those groups which come in | without making reservations and in- dividuals who casuaily stroll into the House. This is the largest attendance ever recorded at Community House during the year and when it is thought of in terms of the total population of the village, it is rather significant, Have 97 Organizations Ninety-seven organizations, some meeting once or twice a week, some twice a month, and others monthly, are now using the House. In addition to these there are eight groups which meet annually, thus making a total of 105 organizations. Of this number 57 were organized by Community House Ninety-three women are now enrolled in the morning gymnasium class, meet- ing twice a week. There are 263 volunteer workers as- sisting in the regular work of the House. Twenty-five women of the community are giving evenings regularly each month as hostesses. During the past fourteen years, Com- munity House has provided an office for the nurse employed by the Relief and Aid Society. Mary Williams.
