WINNETKA TALK March 20, 1926 12 We have funds to loan for improvements or on com- pleted work with North Shore property as security. March 25 Is Final v Day for Tax Payin Township Collector Sanborn Hale's offices in the Winnetka State Bank will be open until Thursday, March 25, for the payment of taxes by resi- dents of New Trier. Delay in secur- ing tax books from the county head- quarters has necessitated postpone- ment of the tax-paying deadline in the township, it is explained. Posters directing attention of the taxpayers to the advantages of paying taxes "at home," rather than in the county building have been placed at points of vantage in all the villages of the township. On these Collector Hale emphasizes that payment of taxes at the Winnetka headquarters insures di- rect benefit for the schools, the vil- lages and the township as a whole. Taxes paid after March 25, must be paid at the County offices in Chicago. Hokanson and Jenks Is Newest Realty Concern Nels M. Hokanson, formerly north shore manager for Quinlan and Tyson, and Herbert C. Jenks, formerly Evans- ton manager for McGuire and Orr, have organized the firm of Hokanson & Jenks, Inc. to specialize in north shore properties. The new firm has opened temporary quarters in the Carlson bungalow at 500 Davis street, Evanston, and will have permanent offices in the new John Evans building when it is completed. Mr. Hokanson is treasurer of the Evanston Real Estate board. Mr. Jenks has been associated with north shore real estate affairs for many years. The next in the series of garden club talks given by Mrs. Charles Hubbard will occur at the home of Mrs. Hub- bard, 849 Foxdale avenue, Monday, March 22. #183 ~Tab-Teb"--a Foster interpretation of an andent Grecian Sandal-- 'The Authentic "The Foster Hand Woven Pumpofor the Street, Country Club or Demi Dress #25 0) boes nd Josi a osiery for Women Ares now being shown. ar~ «15 North Wabash Avenue, opposite Fields The Foster Shop in the Drake Hotel The Foster S and in Kansas City JE Toster & Company A Foster Afternoon scalloped edges and straps Spring e¥lodes = hop of Evanston on the corner of Orrington Avenue and Church Street with hand $20 Art League Will Hold Exhibition in Winnetka Hall The North Shore Art league mem- bers look forward to the exhibition of pictures and sculptures on April 15 at Matz hall, Community House, Winnetka. There will be a dinner, af- ter which the pictures and sculpture will be viewed. James Cady Ewell is chairman of the exhibition and plans with his com- mittee to hang two pictures (not be- fore publicly shown) from each of the producing members. Any sculpture done by the members will also be placed in the exhibition, such to be sent in by April 10. It is the desire of the committee to place twenty of the pictures (to be chosen by the league members by vote) in the different township schools that wish them, for two weeks, such schools paying only for express charges. Here is a fine opportunity for teachers and pupils to view twenty oil paintings. The offices of the league and Mr. Ingerle, president, extend an invita- tion to all artists on the north shore to become members of the organiza- tion, also anyone interested in art to join and support the work of this group, which is trying to strengthen an appreciation for art in the form of lectures, exhibitions, and classes in this community. At the March meeting of the league, Harry Timmins, president of the American Academy of Fine Arts, gave a very interesting talk on composition, illustrating it in a technical way. George Oberteuffer is conducting a class in "life" on Thursday evenings at Winnetka Community House. The Northwestern board, a group of Winnetka women who sew for the Northwestern University settlement, met all-day Thursday in Mrs. John Nash Ott's garage, 17 Indian Hill road.
