M. Simmonds, Jr., 286 Sheridan road, Winnetka, to Clifford Hinckley Smith, took place Wednesday evening, June 23, at 8, in the gardens of the Simmonds' home. Dr. James Austin Richards officiated. The bride was dressed in white satin, embroidered in pearls, and carried a shower bouquet of orchids, sweet peas and lilies of the valley. Her gown was trimmed with a flounce and yoke of lace. Miss Mabel Merle of Chicago, the maid of honor, wore a gown of green taffeta, with tulle flounce and yoke. The bridesmaids, Miss Pauline Wallis of Wilmette and Miss Gladys Foraker of the Edgewater Beach hotel, were dressed in orchid taffeta, and wore pic- ture hats matching their gowns. Tulle was draped over their shoulders and finished off with a pink rose. The ceremony took place in the beau- tiful sunken gardens on the Simmonds' grounds. Pink peonies were massed amid the shrubbery, as a background for the wedding party, and two "peony trees" formed a graceful arch for them to pass under. The aisle was formed by standards of pink roses, peonies and blue larkspur. The wedding march was plaved by a trio. Following the ceremony, Husk O"Hare's orchestra played for dancing for the young people.
