WINNETKA TALK September 25, 1926 "THE PASSING SHOW" Four Cohans theatre The new passing show of 1926, spon- sored by the Messrs. Shubert who are booking the Four Cohans theatre, is one of their elaborate entertain- ments. Much time and effort has been spent to produce beautiful scenes and gorgeous costumes as well as to in- clude a fair share of musical and dra- matic talent. Several new people and many old favorites are included in a large cast, Grace Hayes, Walter C. Kelly, and the team called Salt and Pepper being especially liked. If you liked the last Passing Show you will probably enjoy this one more. Winter Comfort O not select your winter home until you have seen what we have to offer. Stage and Screen News and Reviews VILLAGE THEATRE Motion pictures have only one country boy--Charles Ray. When this popular favorite saw fit to drop his rural character and appear as the sophisticated and disdainful John Alden in "The Courtship of Miles Standish" the country mourned the loss of the greatest creator of homespun parts that the screen has ever had. But Charles Ray has returned to the fold. He is back in his original role. In "Sweet Adeline," his second pic- ture for Chadwick Pictures Corpora- tion which comes to the Village thea- tre next Monday and Tuesday, Septem- ber 27 and 28, Charles has again don- ned the straw hat and boots of the small-town youth, too shy for the village understanding, yet 'harboring in his soul the knowledge that he is fit for great things, if he can but get the chance to prove himself. "Solid Gold," a mermaid comedy, a Sportlight reel showing Red Grange in action and a Pathe news will com- plete the bill. George Walsh, who will be seen at the Village theatre Wednesday and Thursday, September 29 and 30, in "American Pluck," one of.his typical thrilling, action pictures, will be sup- ported by a cast of popular favorites, whose splendid performances have won them prominent places among the stars of the screen. Wanda Hawley, one of the most beautiful blondes of the silent drama, heads the supporting company in the role of Princess Alicia of Bargonia. There will also be a Tuxedo come- dy, "Honest Injun," and a Pathe re- view.
