Mrs. Stevens said the civilization of the Pueblo Indians is on a fairly high level, parallel with that of the Greeks, as described in the Odyssey. "They have beautiful villages," she said, "with streets and houses arranged symmetrically, some of the houses be- ing seven stories tall. The architecture is bright and attractive, and modern architects are studing the Pueblo In- dian villages to copy their fireplaces for domestic buildings of the Spanish type. "In their hand-craft they use a hand- loom like that employed by the early Greeks, and also mold their pottery by hand, not using a potter's wheel. "Their dances are lovely things to behold, the processions being formed in beautiful patterns and with a move- ment somewhat like the English coun- try dance."
