O. T. C. naval unit re- cently established at that university, who have been officially named to par- ticipate in two cruises, one on Lake Michigan and the other on the ocean, on United States ships. In an official bulletin issued by Commander S. B. McKinney, head of the N. U. unit, the personnel of the two contingents has been disclosed. North shore men selected for a fresh water cruise on Lake Michigan, to leave Chicago July 9, are A. I. Elson and A. V. McKeighan of Wilmette, and K. S. Ramsey of Glencoe. The Wilmette, the ship to be em- ployed, is a converted cruiser and will steam from Chicago direct to Macki- nac Island; thence to Black Lake, next to Muskegon, and then will close the visiting part of the trip at Milwaukee Chicago will see the tars disembark just 15 days after leaving. In com- mand of the S. S. Wilmette for the fresh water experimental journey will be Lt. Comm. E. M. Woodson of the Northwestern university naval unit. A meeting of the North Shore Real Estate board will be held at the Lake Shore Terrace next Monday evening, June 20. The question of whether or not July and August meetings should be held, will be discussed. It is ex- pected also that the proposed new members for the organization will be voted upon. The field- ing of the locals last Sunday was hap- hazard, and the listless spirit in which some performed, proved that changes were necessary in the line-up. "The team of this year does not show the flashiness and dash of last year's win- ning combination," said Flynn, "and, in order to give the fans this kind of play [ have obtained two new infielders of worthy calibex, which ought to speed the infield up considerably." The game with Glencoe, of last Sun- day was another one of those slug- fests. The pastime was marred by many errors and much indifferent play- ing. Coach Ashenback, of New Trier High school pitched good ball in the early innings, but Steve Ryan, pres- ident of the American Association of Umpires, who did the officiating, re- fused to "call the corners" and con- sequently many walks were issued which really should not have been. George Hesler, twirler of note in the faster circles of baseball, held the lo- cals at bay until the seventh at which time they managed to push five harm- less runs across the plate. Previous to the seventh, Hesler allowed but one tally, that coming in the third, when Ashenback walked, went to second on Brown's sacrifice, and rode home on Carey's double to left. The five runs in the seventh ° counted when Luchessi and Ashenback singled. Brown walked and Carey got his second double, Runnfeldt then tripled and scored on Miller's sacrifice fly. In the eighth Paulson started to twirl for Glencoe, and allowed four more runs, which were useless in view of the fact that Glencoe had already piled up fourteen against the locals. Next Sunday the Collins A. C. team from North Chicago will make their first appearance on the local diamond. With the two new infielders, along with some much-needed pep, the locals are out for their first victory in five starts. Game time is 3 o'clock.
