Winn. 998-99 Famed Spanish Dancer Guest at Martin Home Senorita Maria Montero, guest dancer all four nights at the opening of Vista del Lago, is the house-guest of Mrs. Mellen C. Martin of 630 Rose- wood avenue. Mrs. Francisco Martin of New York is also a guest of Mrs. Martin. Senorita Montero is a native of Se- ville and is known as Spain's loveliest dancer. Sh has been in this country for about five vears, and makes her headquarters in New York. At the Vista del Lago, her Spanish type of beauty fitted in perfectly with the ar- chitecture and decorations. She made her entrance through a large archway to the esplanada, which made a beau- tiful setting for her ancient type of costume of white lace and white man- tilla. Another typical flamenca cos- tume worn by Senorita Montero had a long train, which she managed in the manner of a true artist. John N. One object of the tournament, accord- ing to the association, is to give its members an opportunity to get better acquainted with each other and to en- tertain their friends. While the association states it is not making any elaborate claims, yet it says it expects a most interesting day on August 18 and a lot of good goli. There is no limit to the number of guests a member may bring, but all players are invited to mail their reser- vations promptly. They are to be sent to Elmer Nelson. 923 Oak street, Winnetka, phone Winnetka, 699-W. The Golf Course is at Elm street and Hibbard road, Winnetka. Play starts at 8 a. m. and continues all day Eighteen holes will be played in the morning and eighteen holes in the afternoon. Prizes will be given for low net and low gross for each eighteen holes. Also for low net and low gross for 36 holes. Prizes will be given for low net and low gross for member and his guest. Also for low gross and low net foursomes made up of guests and members. Other prizes will be given. Luncheon will be served at the club house by the ladies' committee, of which Mrs. C. B. Cook is chairman. The Winnetka Park board has given a certain sum of money to the Association to be used for the tournament. Mrs. H. M. Lay Hostess at Shower on Saturday Mrs. Harry M. Lay of 1408 Edge- wood lane, assisted by the Misses Katherine and Jeanette Lay, entertain- ed Saturday afternoon with a shower for Miss Dorothy Shippen of Glencoe, who is to marrv Herbert D. Tomlinson of Hannibal, Mo., in October. Among the guests present were Miss Anne Turner and Miss Emma Stalzenbach of Irving Park, week-end guests of Miss Katherine Lay, who sails early in the month for Europe. The party enjoyed especially a read- ing by Alfred Newton Burnham of Winnetka, of his child poems.
