4 I August 13, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 43 Real Estate Courses Now in Curriculum 'of Many Universities When the first national conference to outline an educational preparation for the vocation of real estate was called, at Madison, Wis., in April of 1923, courses in real estate or in land economics were unknown in all but three or four institutions of learning in the United States. In September of this year fifty-two universities and colleges will be offer- ing one or more of these courses, according to a tabulation which has just been issued by the National Asso- ciation of Real Estate Boards. The tabulation was made by the associa- tion's department of education and research through direct correspond- ence with deans of the departments of commerce and corresponding ad- ministrative officials of the colleges and universities. Paralleling the introduction of land economics and real estate into the curriculum of colleges and universities courses in these subjects have come to take a prominent place also in the adult education movement, according to a further tabulation made by the association from special reports by its member boards. ~ Since last September 89 local real estate boards in cities throughout the United States conducted courses in real estate either under their own auspices or in co-operation with Y. M. C. A. schools, university extension divisions, or similar institutions: 117 courses were given, 76 of them being general courses in real estate business fundamentals. Eleven of them were special courses in real estate appraisal methods; eight were courses in real estate law; six were courses in the technique of real estate conveyancing; six were courses in specialized real estate selling methods; three were studies of modern methods in real estate finance, and two were technical courses in property management. New Lake Avenue Homesite Area Attracts Notice North Shore Crest is one of the sev- eral sections of that part of Wilmette west of Ridge road where building ac- tivities have been quite pronounced during the past few weeks. Three new bungalows are under construction in North Shore Crest, and those inter- ested in its development say that they hope to have a dozen or fifteen more erected there by the time snow flies. This subdivision is on the north side of Lake avenue and a short dis- tance west of Ridge road. It was sub- divided a few years ago, but like many other sections in what was formerly known as Gross Point, its develop- ment in a building way was not pro- nounced until the coming of the un- derground improvements, since which | time the area is proving one of the most attractive centers to the builder. Three new five-room stucco bunga- lows are now under construction. Two of these are on Melvin avenue and one is on Yale avenue. The lots here are 50 by 135 feet. J. H. Schaefer and company, well known real estate firm with offices at 802 Ridge avenue, are exclusive agents for these new bungalows and also for the remainder of the unsold lots in North Shore Crest. The firm announces that the three homes in question will probably be completed within ninety days. REAL ESTATE LOT AUCTION SATURDAY, AUGUST 20th 2 P. M.
