An interesting disclosure now comes to prove this to be so and lends fur- ther confidence and inspiration to those guiding more than 500 blind peo- ple, served by the Hadley Correspond- ence School for the Blind. Setting $200,000 as an arbitrary fig- ure, the New York = Life Insurance company recently made a survey among its more than 10,000 sighted writers, and found that about 10 per cent of this number wrote this amount annually. The same company discov- ered that about 124 per cent of its fifty blind writers wrote a correspond- other words, ing amount. This, in means that the blind writers were about 2% per cent better producers than their sighted competitors. It is gratifving to the Hadley Correspond- ence school that forty of its students who completed the course offered in Life Insurance are now full-time writ- ers for the New York Life company, and all of them working hard and successfully. Meets Long-felt Need The Hadley school continues to meet a long-felt need among the more | than 100,000 sightless men and women | in America, and its usefulness and en | couragement is coming to mean morc | and more a part of the daily lives of | these handicapped citizens. There no customary summer closing, and the | students of the scheol go on wit! | their work the year round, demon strating by their diligence and earnest | ness of effort how much they appre ciate the opportunities which have been made possible by the generosity | of the people of Winnetka Several new courses of study have been made available this year, among them Spanish, for which there is a | great demand, physiology, and com | merce and industry. | Enrollment on Increase | The school has long since discon tinued to seek students and now ac cepts them only upon application, ye: more than 200 new students have en rolled since January 1. Others have finished their courses and have branched out into the business field, or have felt encouraged to go on to some college, where in several cases they have been admitted without entrance examination on the strength of the work done with the Hadley Corre spondence school. In every case has the student gained in knowledge, in inspiration, and in self-respect, as a direct result of his work at the schoo! No finer tribute can be paid to the contributors to the school than this They may be assured that no donation made elsewhere ever did more good. for they are helping to restore to use fulness many potentially valuable citi- zens who have waited only for just such opportunity. CONTINUE STUDY OF PAUL The Young Men's class of the Win netka Congregational church will con tinue to study the life of Paul this Sunday. Next week there will be a: outside speaker to address the class.
