Second Offense Goes Hard With Woman Driver Mrs. Elizabeth Mangin, aged 34, re- siding just across the line in Lake county, did not escape as easily the second charge of driving a car while intoxicated, as she did several months ago when first arrested in Winnetka on a similar charge. Mrs. Mangin was arrested last Mon- day by Patrolman John H. Luensman and Motorcycle Policeman Charles H. Bemus, at Gage street and Linden ave- nue, Hubbard Woods, and, on the fol- lowing day, was held to the grand jury, under bond of $400. Mrs. Mangin's car crashed into Vic- tor Killian's car, which was parked at the curb and in which Mrs. Killian and Mrs. Holmberg were seated. Neither of the women was injured, although both cars were considerably damaged. About a year ago, Mrs. Mangin was arrested on a similar charge by Win- netka police, when her car collided with two or three cars at Elm and Center streets. She was also charged at that time with driving while intoxi- cated, but leniency was extended and she was permitted to go home. She had her baby, which was only a few days old, in the car with her. Cellist Presents Program for Appreciation Classes Miss Goldie Grosse, cellist with the Little Symphony orchestra, which has been presenting a series of afternoon and evening concerts at the New Trier High school, and the conductor of her own string trio, presented a series of solos at each of the Winnetka schools last Friday. The program was ar- ranged by Lawrence H. Yingling, di- rector of music appreciation work in the schools, and was one of a series of such programs which is being pre- sented during the school year. Man's Relation Toward Man Theme of Class Discussion Were Christ's teachings of man's duty to his brother man impractical or otherwise at fault? Is some of our difficulty in applying them due to our misunderstanding of the manners of expression and thought of 2,000 years ago?' These and allied questions will come up for discussion before the Men's class of the Winnetka Congregational church tomorrow morning at the 9:30 o'clock class session. The discussion will follow a talk by the Rev. James Austin Richards on the subject, "The Mind of Christ Regarding Man's Re- lation to His Brother Man." All men in the village are invited to this and other meetings of the class, which convenes in the American Le- gion room at Community House. Burrage Farwell Wins Prize in Book Contest Burrage T. Farwell of the sixth grade of the Hubbard Woods school was awarded the prize consisting of a volume of Cooper's "The Spy," in the book contest conducted as a book week feature by Miss Marian Elwell, principal of the school. The conditions of the contest provided that the first pupil to submit the correct answers to the list of questions on children's books would be recipient of the prize. Three children entered correct lists but as Burrage Farwell was the first of the three in submitting his answers he was awarded the prize. The two other children receiving honorable mention were Janet Weber and Whitlock Dun- can. Mrs. Frank Young of Kenilworth entertained a few friends at lunch- eon last Tuesday in honor of Miss Elizabeth Sweet's birthday.
