Play Reading at Woman's Club Will Be Open to All The Community Drama club, under the auspices of the art and literature department of the Winnetka Woman's club, has arranged a dramatic reading for Tuesday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, in the Woman's club. Mrs. Laird Bell will read a modern play. The affair is open to all, the committee an- nounces, and states, further, "Remem- ber Tuesday, March 27, at 3, at the Winnetka Woman's club." HITS Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth John Mearns and their daughter, Barbara, of 5 Warwick road, Kenilworth, are leaving Thursday, March 22, for Mt. Carroll, 111, where Ruth Mearns is attending the Frances Shimer school. They will bring Ruth back with them to spend the spring holidays. : A Miss Crystal Neiman is entertaining some of her friends at luncheon and bridge today at the Woman's Athletic club. Miss Neiman is returning to her home in Germany in the spring. W.F. Hopkins and Floyd Kingsley Are Hurt in Auto Crash Willard F. Hopkins of 1141 Tower road, Winnetka, vice president of the Chicago Trust company, sustained a fractured collar bone in an automobile accident last Sunday when the car in which he was riding with his wife and son, Willard, Jr., as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Kingsley and sons, Floyd and James, Cumnor road, Kenilworth, was struck and overturned by another machine at Waukegan road and Touey avenue, Niles. Floyd was pinned beneath the car and suffered a badly shattered leg, as well as other injuries. Mr. Kingsley escaped with but minor injuries. His wife was badly shaken up and bruised while Mrs. Hopkins suffered greatly from shock and a bad blow on the left side of her head. The two smaller boys were not hurt. All were taken to the Evanston hospital where they were attended by Dr. Frederick Christopher of Winnetka. Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley and sons and guests had gone for a ride in the King- sley car. When driving along Wau- kegan road near Touey avenue, another car, driven by James Beattie of 35 North Lorel avenue, suddenly left the pavement and then swerved back across the road head-on into the Kingsley car, overturning it. Beattie, who was uninjured, was booked on a charge of assault, pending the recov- ery of those injured. Mrs. Lillian E. Raymond and Miss Lida Raymond of 874 Willow road have just returned from California, where they spent the past month. After spending some time in Sacra- mento and San Francisco, they motored down to Los Angeles, where they were the guests of Mrs. A. E. Mayhew, the mother of Miss Raymond's fiancé.
