March 24, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Three New Pieces by Dean Peter Lutkin on Choir's Program Three new compositions by Dean Peter Christian Lutkin of the School of Music, Northwestern university, will be items of the program which the A Cappella choir of the university, under his direction, will sing at the MacDowell Society meeting Sunday. The musicale will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Koch, 1412 Judson avenue. Admission will be by membership ticket. Stephen Phillips' poem, "Marpessa," which has been set to music as a cantata for four solo voices by Miss Emily Bottcher, a graduate student of great promise at the School of Music, will also be sung by Miss Ruth McIn- niss, soprano; Miss Martha Williams, contralto; Chester Ewers, tenor, and Carl Gutekunst, bass, accompanied by the gifted young composer. The choir will sing Rachmaninoff's "Glory to the Trinity"; Tcheneskoff's "The Beatitudes," a new writing for tenor solo and accompaniment in novel form; Kopolyoff's "Alleluia, Christ is Risen," an arrangement of a Russian Easter folk song; and a Latin group by Palestina. Dean ,Lutkin's new numbers are, "The Waits are Singing in the Lane," "The Shepherd" (words of the twenty-third psalm written for alto solo and choral accompaniment), and "The Night of Bethlehem." The choir will also sing two interesting negro spirituals arranged by Nathaniel Dett of that race, "Weeping Mary" and "Every Time I Feel the Spirit." Persons interested in joining the society may do so at this meeting. Its object is to raise funds through dues for contribution to the MacDowell colony for young artists of recognized talent established at Peterboro, N.
