Day BE ---- COUNTRYSIDE COURSE BECKONS TO GOLFERS Season at Club Near Mundelein Formally Opened Last Satur- day; Links in Fine Shape Saturday, May 12, marked the form- al opening of the season at the Coun- tryside Golf club at Mundelein, Ill. Officials announce several new service features for the convenience of guests from the north shore towns and prom- ise greens and fairways on the eigh- teen holes even better than last year. This year arrangements have been made for buses to meet all North Shore line trains--carrying patrons direct to the club. Other conveniences being offered for the first time are the daily meals and refreshments served in the Countryside clubhouse. Though comparatively new among north shore golf clubs, this public fee course is already widely known for its sporty fairways and velvety greens and in the estimation of seasoned golfers rates high among north shore golf courses. Convenient to North Shore One mile outside of Mundelein, Countryside is a quick run by auto or North Shore line train from any north shore town. North shore golfers will find this eighteen hole course par- ticularly appealing in its freedom from overcrowding. Though convenient to the north shore, it is secluded enough to escape the throngs. Countryside is a course on which one can play at his own pace without cooling heels at each tee or being crowded by impatient galleries at every stroke. Patrons get right on the course because the club house is situated between the two nines so that new arrivals can drive off on either the first or tenth hole. Considered Among Finest Jock Hutchinson approved the lay- out as planned for this course by the landscape architects, Root and Hollis- ter. The course was built by the builder of the famous Bob-O-Link and Westmoreland courses. 6,618 yards of rolling green, bordering on the wooded shores of beautiful Countryside lake. Now the fairways are again re-echo- ing to the sharp crack of the drive and the warning "Fore." Cleverly bunkered and intriguingly trapped, the eighteen holes are in perfect condition.
