On Wednesday of next week at 2 o'clock, at the Kenilworth club, there is to be a benefit bridge for the dis- abled war veterans. Cards have been sent to all members of the Neighbors and it is hoped that every one will respond. The proceeds of this party will be used during the coming year to provide cigarets, chocolate bars, deli- cacies and necessities for these dis- abled men at Great Lakes and, in many instances, for their families. These men are so grateful for the assistance rendered and are happy to have visitors at any time. Men and women are very welcome at the hos- pital and all who are interested are urged to drive out and see them. The committee suggests that those expecting to attend the benefit-bridge make up their own tables for the game but are urged not to stay away if unable to do so, as the committee will do any thing possible for the pleasure of the guests that day. Those donating prizes are asked to kindly deliver them not later than next Monday to any one of the following: Mrs. James Prentiss, Mrs. M. H. DeMent, Mrs. D. R. DeCamp, Mrs. J. C. Entertainment to Aid Chicago Junior School The North End Branch, Friends of Chicago Junior school, is to be favored in the way of entertainment for its regular monthly meeting, held Tues- day, May 15, at. 8:30 P.M., at the Sovereign hotel. County Judge Edmund K. Jarecki will present his play, "A Day at the Polls." The author is Judge Jarecki himself, and the cast his own special selection, The Chicago Junior school, located one mile north of Elgin, is a home and school for boys from broken homes. An increase of funds will permit more cottages being built enabling them to care not only for a larger number of boys but for girls from these homes. BRIDGE AT SHAWNEE Shawnee Country club's annual May party with dinner and dance, and with sports clothes the requisite cos- tume, is planned for Saturday evening, May 26. The regular Thursday buf- fet dinners continue during ~ May. Bridge devotees will have their Mon- day afternoon progressive bridge par- ties at 2 and the monthly bridge lunch- eon occurs on the last Monday of the month. Tomorrow evening the club is reserved for the spring party for children of members and their little guests, groups in the sixth, sev- enth and eighth grades. Saturday af- ternoon, May 19, the younger children, those up to the sixth grade, will hold sway. A party with special entertain- ment is arranged for them. LEAVES FOR CANTON Miss Margaret Fitch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fitch of Cumnor road, Kenilworth, who has been acting leads in the stock company at Fort Wayne, Ind, is closing her engagement there at the end of this week and going on to Canton, Ohio. Miss Fitch has had a very hard season, carrying leads in such plays as "Rain," "Irene," "Smilin' Through," and "White Cargo." The company will open at Canton with the last named play.
