May 19, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 19 Former Resident of North Shore Writes on Movies Among that multitude of movie fans that pass each week through the gates of the many theaters of the United States--and the world for that matter --to steal away from the strife and grind of the material life and to dwell momentarily in the land of shadows, are those that follow in the news- papers and magazines the news of that other smaller multitude that works daily at the task of producing the films. Some of the fans that thus take their movies seriously, have doubtless no- ticed the articles written by Ruth Biery which have appeared from time to time in Photoplay, a magazine de- voted exclusively to motion picture news and issued monthly by the Photo- play Publishing company of Chicago and New York City. Written in a style peculiarly her own, the articles relate most interest- ingly salient points in the life history of various stars, portraying vividly their characteristics and reflecting their personalities in such a manner as to break down the barrier imposed by the printed page and give the reader a glimpse of the real actor. Theater goers of the north shore, who have read the articles, would have perused them with even greater inter- est had they known that they were written by a former neighbor... Ruth Biery, who now resides near Holly- wood, was formerly a Winnetka woman, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Lieber.
