Sears, of 506 Sheridan road, Glencoe, while driving north on Center street, Winnetka, at a high rate of speed, crashed into a car driven by W. J. Scott, of 411 Sheridan road, Winnetka, Wednesday evening, short- ly after 7 o'clock. The street was showered with broken glass from the windshields and both cars were other- wise damaged, but the occupants es- caped injury, according to the report of Sergeant Glen Boyd. Sears, ac- cording to Sergeant Boyd, was driving on the wrong side of the street. Greeley School Faculty Holds Tea for Chairman The faculty of the Greeley school gave a tea on Monday afternoon at the school for Mrs. Myron Harshaw, school chairman, Mrs. William Ogden Coleman, social chairman, and Miss Marian Spach, director of the nursery school, who will not return to the Greeley school next year. Phone LONGbeach 4646 Council May Ask Cut in Winnetka Gas Rate An informal discussion was held by the Village council at its meeting Tuesday evening on the suggestion of Trustee Carl J. Easterberg, chairman of the Public Utility committee, that application should be made by the Village for a reduction in gas rates in Winnetka. It. was decided, however, that before making a formal application for a re- duction to the Illinois Commerce Com- Shore Gas company to determine their mission, a conference should be ar- ranged with the officials of the North attitude on the question. It was pointed out that inasmuch as the Village is now reducing its electric rates, the Gas company might reason- ably be expected to follow suit. Move to Retain Engineer on Grade Separation Here An ordinance authorizing the em- ployment of Walter Shaw as engineer on the grade separation project was introduced in the Winnetka Village council Tuesday evening. Mr. Shaw is to be employed jointly by the vil- lages of Wilmette, Kenilworth, Win- netka and Glencoe, and the city of Highland Park. He will work in con- junction with Francis X. Busch, who will have charge of the legal part of the work. Mr. Shaw was formerly city en- gineer of Chicago and subsequently chairman of the Illinois Public Utility commission at the time of its or- ganization in 1913. He is an engineer of wide experience in railroad and other public utility matters. Mrs. Bert H. Kershaw, 325 Wood- land avenue, returned last Sunday night from Glen Lake, Mich. where she had spent ten days at the summer home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. A. G. Jordan.
