Wilmette Scout Troop is Efficiency Award Winner To Troop 5, Boy Scouts, of Wil- mette Presbyterian church, go the hon- ors for the strongest Scout program during the month of May. The North Shore Area council issues a leather shield each month to the troop report- ing the best all-around program of activities. This is based on a com- parison of the care with which the meeting night programs are worked out, the outdoor emphasis, which is put on the troop program, the degree to which the boy management comes into play, the advancement and growth and relationship within the troop. Troop 5 had an attendance of 98% during the month: one or more Troop committeemen were present at each meeting, a two-day hike was held under the- leadership of Scoutmaster Frank Raynolds, and the chairman of the Troop committee, H. One hundred per cent of the troop took part in the Memorial Day parade and received first award for the Davey cup. Eleven scouts are already signed up for first period, Camp Checaugau. Walter McPeek, North Shore Scout executive, in speaking of the award said, "I know of no troop which has made a steadier growth and develop- ment during the last few months. This is due largely to the work of the Scoutmaster, the increasing activity of the Troop committee, and the fine leadership that has been demonstrated by the older boys of the troop." A. L.
