The Golden Text was from Psalms 8:1, "O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens." Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him" (I Cor 8:5, 6). The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfills the Scriptures, 'Love thy neighbor as thyself," (p. 340).
