30 WINNETKA TALK July 7, 1928 D4 Happy in Their "Blue Heaven" a Go by highway to vacation land A GOOD USED CAR is waiting for you in the Classified Columns President Vic and New Boss, Theresa IC J. Killian, retiring president of the Winnetka Rotary club, has been the recipient of numerous felici- tations during the closing days of his term of office, among the kindly ex- pressions being the following, submit- ted by the publicity committee of the club: Realizing that Rotary does not wish newspaper publicity, the work of the committee has been more or less hindered. Many things have come up which would have been considered good publicity, but could not be used. The committee has therefore centered not for publication. We therefore ask that outlying papers, especially Wau- kegan and California, do not copy, as our president is very retiring, espe- cially at National conventions. The last report made by August Peters after the state convention verified this. "The committee is very gratified that our president is also a speaker of note. His recent talk about the different colored bath tubs and the ethics of bathing, has gone a long way in keep- ing the club clean at all times. It is our understanding, however, that very little thought was given this matter even by our president, prior to the arrival of the new daughter. While he was somewhat disappointed that the girl was not a boy, yet this committee realizes that he cannot accomplish everything in one term of office. "We are sorry that the heavy duties of being president of Rotary, president of the Plumbers' association, vice president of the Chamber of Com- merce, raising a new family, buying a new Hup, erecting a new building, settling strikes, losing the lease on his present office, causing him to enter the real estate field against his will, has nearly caused a breakdown and necessitated a fishing trip up north, which was a little bit wet in starting and grew wetter as it progressed and was wettest when ended. The fish were wet, too, but as far as we know preferred to stay that way, as this kind of bait was no inducement to big fish. However, the stories now told give Vic the full credit for the catch of two large blue gills, which we understand will be displayed under a microscone in his office building and show room. "Before closing the committee also wishes to extend to our good looking (apologies to Vic and the baby) mili- tary trained and snappy commanding vice-president, their appreciation of his manly defense of General Ryan, who said, 'You can raise soldiers in six months." Bob should know, so should Vie, that this statement is un- true; and why say, 'Yes' and then find out two weeks later he did not mean it? Is the statement true that they are only good for taking the com- mands of others, which seemingly was the case, or was it absent mind- edness? "In conclusion, we hope the club appreciates the work of this commit- tee in its untiring efforts to be of service to the club, state and nation. Who can tell but that this publicity may in years to come be the cause of our having either the present presi- dent or his man Friday placed for nomination in a Democratic Conven- tion? its efforts on our retiring president. "In order not to embarrass our fond president, the committee is very care- ful in rendering this report and it is You Can Yet Buy THE GENUINE "Clean as the Sun's Heat" AT 'Reduced Summer Prices You save when you buy this fuel and you save when you use it MORE HEAT --LESS COST --LESS ASH Sold and Recommended by: EDINGER & SONS KUTTEN BROTHERS 1301 Lake St., Wilmette, IIL 711 Main St., Wilmette, IIL Phone Wilmette 642 Phone Wilmette 1 3} "Publicity Committee."
