SAA St i is x. 2 a ------ eS September 8, 1928 WINNETKA TALK ' w -- Striking Poster Heralds Approach of Illini Season Publishes Book That annual harbinger of football-- the grid poster of the University of Illinois--will soon make its appearance in thousands of store windows through the state to remind followers of the Fighting Illini that the season is at hand. Applications for the posters are now being filled by the university athletic department and it is planned to distri- bute some in every city in Illinois. C. E. Bradbury, of the university art department, designed the poster again this year and has turned out a magni- ficent action picture of a ball carrier and his interferer charging up the line of scrimmage. Both players are in their stride and the interferer is set to take a would-be tackler out of the road. The color scheme is the traditional orange and blue of the university col- ors. The blue-clad players with their orange helmets are silhouetted against a blue flecked disc of white and the entire picture is laid on a background of black. The schedule of home games appears in yellow lettering in the lowar left hand corner and on the right side is information concerning the ordering of tickets by mail. Mr. Bradbury made a close study of Zuppke's men in action to paint the picture and the realism he has achieved will make every football fan tingle with anticipation when he looks at the poster. The poster has been reproduced in miniature, with the original colors, for the windshield stickers will be widely distributed and sent to those who re- quest them.
