A plot of ground val- ued at $1,500,000 has been given over to the athletic program of the Mec- Kinlock men until the building pro- gram is resumed. The field occupies one square block bounded on the north by Superior street, on the east by Lake Shore drive, on the south by Huron street and on the west by McClurg court, and cov- ers approximately 70,000 square feet. Facilities include a gridiron, baseball diamond, three fields for playground ball, a basketball court, one for volley- ball, a tennis court and two courts for horseshoe pitching. There are bleach- ers for the accommodation of 500 per- sons. The field is to be devoted to intra-murals. ; : Convenient to the field a white-tiled shower room has been built on the ground floor on the west side of the Montgomery Ward building. Establishment of the field is credited to the efforts of Edward B. David- son of Evanston, assistant ~ business manager, who is in charge of the Mc- Kinlock campus. After the vacant property, half of which was acquired only a year ago, had been covered with cinders and rolled, Mr. David- son saw its possibilities as a tempor- ary athletic ground. Faculty members as well as students of the various schools formed teams and participated in the dedicatory ceremonies with games umpired by President Walter Dill Scott.
