Circles * Chairmen Visit Skokie Mrs. Hobart Young, chairman of the Parent-Teacher branch at Skokie school, and the nineteen subchairmen for the advisory rooms held an all-day meeting at Skokie school Tuesday, October 16. They spent the day visit- ing the various classrooms and had luncheon with the teachers at noon. Later in the afternoon, after the close of school, they attended a tea given by the faculty. "Parents' Night" Parents of Skokie school children have been invited to a "parents' night," October 22. Here is Principal Logan's letter of invitation: October 17, 1928. Dear Parents: By arrangement of the Parent-Teacher association Monday evening, October 22, will be "parents' night" at Skokie school. In order that you and all of your child's teachers may become acquainted, or bet- ter acquainted, and that you may see how the school is organized and operated, a day's schedule will be carried out in miniature with children's parents passing from class to class instead of the pupils. Will you not come? In the front hall you will be given your child's Monday schedule," which you will follow through. As the first period begins at 7:20 sharp, you should arrive by 7:10 in order to be on time at the first class. It would be sad to be sent to the office in the game! Periods will be ten minutes in length instead of the usual thirty. As most of the classes meet regularly double periods (60 minutes) all periods Monday evening will be for twenty minutes, with the exception of advisory, study hall, library, typewriting, biology and current events, writer's club, and music, which will last ten minutes only. Since the class periods are very short, it will be necessary to press briskly from one to another as soon as the bell rings. There will be opportunity in the gymnasium later for private conversation with teachers. After the last class, all socially in the gymnasium. there you will go through line" for light refreshments. Several dolls were outfitted, and two dolls' beds were completely equipped with mattresses, blankets, and spreads. Miss Mee's third grade mothers are invited to meet at their school room Monday, October 29, at 3 o'clock. Miss Mee will outline the work she hopes to cover with her pupils during the year. Tea is being planned under the direction of Mrs. Justus Chancellor, Jr. Friday afternoon, October 19, Mrs. Forest Lowrey, 550 Oak street, had as her guests the mothers of Miss Yaeger's first graders. No program had been planned, as the idea is to be- come better acquainted, to facilitate co-operation in the year's work. Several workers met in Miss Caden- head's room under the direction of Mrs. Thomas D. Thackery, Jr. to cover the children's work table with at- tractive oil cloth and to otherwise im- prove the appearance of the room. The completed list of room chair- men for Greeley is as follows: Mrs. Max Murdock, for Miss Hess' nursery school; Mrs. Ralph Snyder, for the pre-kindergarten group; Mrs. Thomas Thackery, Jr., for Mrs. Cadenhead's second grade; Mrs. Herbert Bartling, for Mrs. Barnes' fourth grade. The first group meeting for the nurs- ery school mothers was held Tuesday, October 16, at 1:30 o'clock at Mrs. Alschuler"s home, 795 Linden avenue. Plans for the year were discussed, and a visit made to the new nursery school addition now under construction at Skokie. Faculty Party The first faculty party for Winnetka schools will be held on October 30 at 8:30 at the Hubbard Woods school. This is to be a Hallowe'en Dance, and the faculty of Hubbard Woods school will be the hostess. Hubbard Woods School The first afternoon meeting of the Parent-Teacher association of Hub- bard Woods was held Wednesday, October 17, at 3 o'clock, Mrs. Robert Brown, the chairman, presiding.
