A leading critic had this to say about the picture: " 'Captain Swagger' is in every way a good show with its exciting plot, interesting characters, and sump- tuous backgrounds. Rod LaRocque as the Escadrille, Ulrich Haupt as the German aviator, and Sue Carol as the waif of New York night life, entertain in every sequence in which they ap- pear, and the star, Mr. L.aRocque, par- ticularly shines in the character of the lovable, if braggart, 'high society' wastrel." There will be a special matinee on Tuesday, Christmas day. This United Artists' picture is based on the sensational stage play of the same name by Dennison Clift. The story as translated to the screen by C. Gardner Sullivan, has in its film manifestation, all the drama, virility and charm of the play, authorities who have seen both versions state. The players appearing in support of Miss Talmadge in "The Woman Disputed" are well known to picture-goers. Gi!- bert Roland, hero of Miss Talmadge's "The Dove," plays a like role in this film, Arnold Kent is the rival suitor. A notable cast appears with Lew Cody and Aileen Pringle in their lat- est co-starring vehicle, "The Baby Cyclone," Teatro attraction for next Wednesday. Among the well known players are Robert Armstrong, Gwen Lee, and Clarissa Selwynne. "The Baby Cyclone" is the story of a little Pekingese dog named "Cyclone," brought into the lives of two couples in different social worlds. Women quarrel over the ownership of the dog, and men whine bceause their wives love the dog more than their husbands. "Varsity" is a college romance starring Charles (Buddy) Rogers and Mary 'Brian, and will be shown on Sunday and Monday. Be- sides the regular picture a program of vitaphone acts will be presented, in- cluding the Four Aristocrats, Florence Moore, a musical sketch entitled "A Night in Coffee Dan's," and a novelty Christmas reel, "The Wooden Soldier." On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the Alcyon will offer the great talking comedy "Beware of 3achelors," with William Collier Jr., and Audrey Ferris. On the same pro- gram will be a vitaphone two-reel talking comedy sketch, "Giving In," with Harry Delf and Hedda Hopper, and Brooks and Ross in melodious harmony.
