Invites Basketball Players to Washington Game The Washington-Illinois basketball game Monday evening, December 31, in the Illinois gymnasium, is likely to be a popular New Year's diversion for high school basketball players of the state. For the university is extending an invitation to the mem- bers of the prep cage squads and their coaches to attend this game as guests. Washington, which has defeated In- diana, co-champions of the Big Ten last season and played well against Iowa and Purdue, undoubtedly is strong and will be the most severe test yet for the Illini cagers. The Illini are able to play host to the prep players for the Washington game because the university will be closed and few students will be here. Therefore, it will be possible to ac- commodate the young athletes and all other out-of-town fans who desire to see a rattling good exhibition. No formal invitation is being sent to individual high schools and coaches or principals who desire to obtain tickets should apply by mail to C. E. Bowen, ticket manager, 107 University hall, Urbana. A maximum of 12 tickets for, players and one for the coach will be forwarded. The Washington game replaces a contest with Wabash which was to be played at Crawfordsville on New Year's eve. The Illini have dispersed to spend Christmas at home but will return after they have opened their stockings to resume drill.
