C. Herendeen- of Crystal Lake left last week on a business trip to Liverpool, England. Members of the American Legion post at Crystal Lake are planning a big Fourth of July, celebration for that city. On account of the continued cold and rainy weather farmers in many sections of the county are obliged to replant their corn. Lake county law inforcement authorities have laid plans which they hope will curtail all beer activities in that county in the future. The annual open-air carnival, as sponsored by the American Legion post of Harvard^ will this year be held on the evenings of June 19, 20 and 21. Fred Yule and H. K. Copenhaver have taken over the Ford agency at Crystal Lake, having purchased the business from Kennedy Brothers a short time ago. The Crystal Lake high school band appeared in natty new uniforms on Memorial day when they headed the procession that visited the cemetaries in that city. Woodstock is another nearby city to install stop signals. Every progressive city in the country is now falling in line by the installation of these safety first signals. Crystal Lake is experiencing a very substantial building boom this spring, a number of modern homes haying already been completed within the course of the last few weeks. Crystal Lake's new $10,000 fire fighting engine and equipment has arrived and is now ready for use. The new acquisition to the fire department gives that city one of the best outfits in McHenry county. The historic "Liberty" theatre at Camp Grant, Rockford, where many of the boys from McHenry county spent many a happy moment watching boxing bouts, movies and other attractions, is being torn down. Henry Hogans of Oak Park has purchased the late Senator Olson'i farm, consisting of 148 acres and adjoining the Woodstock city limits, and will have same subdivided. The property is located on McHenry avenue. Two girl studenta of the Crystal Lake community high school ran away on Tuesday afternoon of last week and were apprehended by city police at Elgin the following afternoon. They had slept on a bench in one of the parks on Tuesday night. Mayor Raue of Crystal Lake re cently received word from the German consulate general, Chicago, asking his assistance in locating a Mrs. Mary Rogers, formerly Miss Mary Voss who is said to have made her home in or near Crystal Lake in 1916. Fifteen employes of the Manley Motor company of Harvard and Belvi dere recently visited the huge new Ford factory located at 130th street, Chicage. The plant is engaged in assembling cars, making bodies and other Ford parts. Twenty-five hundred people are employed.
