The locals could have helped themselves to more runs had they so desired, but they had more than enough and so were content to hustle the game thru as the rain had threatened once or twice to pat a stop to the pastiming. In Spite of the fact that the contest proved such a one sided affair, the crowd of faithful fans, who braved the inclement weather by turning out in such goodly numbers, were treated to some real good baseball. Wilson, the visitors' center fielder, contributed a running catch of Kingsley's line drive to deep center in the second inning that proved one of the best ever seen here.. Easley also pulled a swell catch of Yuncer's drive in the fifth frame. : For McHenry Bailey proved the big gun. As a matter of fact, this youngster enjoyed a real field day, defensively as well as offensively. In the field he accepted seventeen chances without the semblance of an error, while he accumulated three singles, a triple and home run in five trips to the plate. Joey Gross also collected for himself three singles and a double in five times at bat. McHenry just seemed to take to the offerings of Avery, a port sider, who they drove off the hill in the sixth frame, while Easley, who succeeded him, fared but little better, altho McHenry was beginning to slacken up when/he took the mound. Ehninger dished up for the home club, while Davison, our regular slab artist, covered center field in order to save himself for the Algonquin game. Ehninger allowed the visitors but seven hits. < -<* * * The game by innings; GIANTS: Wilson socked a threebase smash to left and trotted home on F. Peters' single td center. Algonquin, reinforced by the addition of four leading semi-pro players from Chicago, was going to make sure of victory and their fond hopes, we may say, were fully realized. The Indians got the jump on Mc- : Henry in the third inning when they 'scored three of their four runs and >s it later turned oat were enough to ^clinch the contest. An ^rror in this round gave the victors the opening. They annexed their fourth run in the fifth inning. McHenry helped themselves to two runs in the fourth inning, but that was all they were able to put across. Wilson pitched a steller game for the winners, while Davison turned in a mighty good day's work ft* the losers. - . The tabulated score: Algonquin R. Woodstock got started late this year, but in spite of this fact thay have at this time developed a team which is said to be the best that has represented that city in years. They have played two games with the State Line outfit, taking the first and losing the second by a close score. Last Sunday they traveled to Cary and dropped an 8 to 7 contest to the home club in a game which the county seaters should Jiave won. Judging from these performances they should give the McHenry team a real argument. The visitors are coming with a lot of confidence and th* staunch backers of the Typewriter city team are even going so far as to say that their favorites will give the McHenry team a set-back. In past years when clubs representing these two cities met it always would mean a real battle and next Sunday's contest may prove no exception to the rule. Game called at 2:30. Wood- . stock is coming in goodly numbers and McHenry fans will sorely turn out en masse. PAULIST DAY NURSERY ON GEO. The camp, thru the generosity of the owner of the farm, was established a few weeks ago and in spite of the unfavorable weather conditions much good has been accomplished.
