Anderson and John Blomgren were among the guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lusk near Volo last Thursday night to help celebrate Mrs. Lusk's birthday. Delicious refreshments were served at the close of "an enjoyable evening. G. J. Burnett returned home last Wednesday after spending the previous week in Chicago where he had his teeth extracted and visiting at the homes of Dr. Brunswick and Mrs. Almeda Grantham. He is now feeling improved after his serious illness of rheumatism this winter. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Matthews attended a surprise party at. the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Stroker at Wauconda last Saturday night. Ten tables of euchre provided the diversion for the guests, and eight prizes, were awarded. The Volo Ladies' Aid met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Dillon. The afternoon was spent sewing and visiting and about four o'clock a delicious luncheon was served,. Nearly twenty-five ladjes attended. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Wait attended the funeral of Mrs. Wait's sister, Mrs. Maria Richardson Horton, at Lake Villa, Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Horton's girlhood home was on the north banks of Fish Lake, where John Brimer now lives. Mrs. Frank Hironimus entertained about thirty guests in honor of , her daughter, Evaline's, twentieth birthday, last Saturday. Five hundred was played and Eveline received many nice presents.
