The home talent play, which was staged here Sunday evening, brought a large attendance. Some expressed themselves as this being the best of the plays they had presented. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith of Harvard, Miss Agnes Young of Elgin, Mr. and Mrs. Art Smith and family, Louis Clarence, Rosrna and Genevieve Young of McHenry spent Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Schmitt. Mrs. Mat Lay, Mrs. John Lay and family of Spring Grove were visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Schmitt last Thursday. The latter's son, Elmer Lay, has been seriously ill of pneumonia, at the home of his grand-parents. Miss Frances Miller and her sister, Rose, and her friend, Robert Lang, were out from Chicago to attend the funeral of her sister, Mrs. Joseph Lay, the former returning to Chicago the next day, while her sister, Rose, stayed for a few days. St. Agata Installs a St. Agatha court, No. 777, W. C. O. F., welcomed two new members into their order last Tuesday afternoon. At three o'clock the meeting took 'place at St. John's parish hall. Mrs. Anna Guyser played the march and also the welcome song,- which was sung by the members. Miss Agness Schmitt and Miss Barbara Althoff conducted the new members to the chief ranger, Mrs. Katherine Freund, who greeted them' with a hearty welcome. After the initiation', the' installation of officers took place. Rev. Wm. Weber, our pastor, gave them the pledge, and later also addressed the members with a few kind words for the good of the order. The two young ladies, who joined the order, were Miss Martha "Huff and Miss Julia Weingart. After th6 business meeting the members all marched down to Frank Kempfner's hall, where they enjoyed a delightful banquet at 5:30. Th^ hall and the officers' table were decorated with white and yellow crepe paper and each member was presented with a beautiful rose. After the banquet, in the evening, dancing was enjoyed, the music being furnished by Oeffling's orchestra, and was very good Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Haglund and children of Chicago were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jos.
