Hansen mot^ped to McFarlane, Wis., Sunday and visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen. They returned Monday. Miss Fannie Troyer is taking a vacation from her duties at Stanford farm. She is visiting her mother at 'Hamlet, Ind. Mrs. Frost of Volo .is taking her place. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Huson and daughters spent Sunday at the Croker homo in Libertyville. Mr. and Mrs. Croker returned with them and stayed until Monday morning. John Worts has bought the Ells Moore house, remodeled it, and is now spending week ends there. They were there to see about new carpeting for the M. E. chijrch. Miss Alice Meyer visited her sjster Miss Agnes, at the Badenock home aft Round Lake Saturday. There was no school at Volo Monday on account of illness of the teacher, Miss Larson The boys of Volo school have made some fine bird houses. Clarence Hironimus has made two and has one, which is especially worthy of notice, erected on the Hironimus lawn just opposite the school house. Mother's day will be observed at Volo M. E. church next Sunday evenine. May 11 will be baptismal service* and reception of memhps. If anyone wishes to unite with tFe church they will be received on that day. It is much easier to tell who does not have them. Frank Kaiser _and .some friends shipped several head of cattle to Chicago Monday. Mr. Kaiser went to the city Monday evening to look after the cattle. Miss Ammie Francisco went to see her doctor Sunday afternoon and get more medicine. The doctor talks very encouraging and thinks she is making fine improvement. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gibbs has the sympathy of the whole community in the loss of their young j daughter, and sickness of several j more of the family. i Farmers are very busy preparing corn ground but we have not heard of any in this neighborhood "" being planted. They think it is too cold for the seed to sprout. The Ostend school was closed last week Thursday on account of so many cases of measles.
