JOHN J. MILLER AAA Articles and Notices under tho above head fumioticii by ibe Ladies ot the W. O, T. U and the editor claims no part or credit for the (same. • - Kansas College Women Take a Brave Stand, for Higher Morality. A very encouraging and hopeful sign of true progress is found in the recent brave action taken by the young ladies of Kansas University. Thirty-five of these students, together with the wives of sev eral members of the faculty, have deter mined that they will nO longer be even indirectly responsible for the drink habit which is so frequently fostered by thr eervfng of wine and liquor at banquets and parties given by the various frater nities. They have solemnly pledged themselves and their fraternities to dis countenance the using of ardent spirits in all future gatherings of college so cieties at which they are present. It has been agreed that at any party thus given, if liquor in any form is used each member will instantly leave. As those thus pledged to temperance and a higher morality include many of the most attractive young women in the in stitution it is reasonable to suppose that there will be at least one StateXJnivereity where the custom of serving wine at ban quets will be discontinued. . Kansas has been called the daughter of Massachusetts, but in many respects the daughter has distanced the mother in the upward march toward a purer and better life as well as that free and in dependent spirit which made Massachu setts the pride and glory of the New World. The thirty-five youug ladies who have inaugurated this innovation have un consciously placed their names on the honor roll of the Daughters of the New Time, an appellation far more honorably than members in the society of Daugh ters of the Revolution. It is far better to worship with the face to the dawn and by act and influence elevate the race than to spend one's life searching through the graveyards of the past tor flowers wherewith to garland one's self. ??5|cwood, ii-1- West McHenry, III, Just. in. Ecspeettully Yoiirsi Gloves and Mittens, ONE OB TWO WAYS, The bladder was created for one pur pose, namely, a receptacle for the urine and as such it is not liable to any form of diseases except by one of two ways. The first wav is from imperfect action of the kidneys. The second way is from careless local treatment of other disease CHIEF CAUSE. Unhealthy urine from unhealthy kid neys is the chief cause of bladder troubles. So the womb, like the bladder was created for one purpose, and if not doctored too much is not liable to weak ness or disease, except in rare cases. It is situated back of and very close to the bladder, therefore any pain, disease or inconvenience manifested in the kid neys, back, biabuer, or urinary passage, is often, by mistake, attributed to fe male weakness or womb trouble of some p* rf. The error is easily made and may be easily avoided. To find out correcctly set your urine aside for twenty-four hours; a sediment or settling indicates kidney or bladder trouble. The mild and the extraordi nary efiect of Dr. Kilmer's Swamp Root, the great kidney and bladder remedy, is soon realized.
