COLUMN AGAIN [OCRATIC LEAD WO 3 OUT TO 90 IN An ' oasis of Republicanism lift a Democratic state and nation, McHenry county remained true to its tenents and voted into office the entire slate of Republican candidates for the county in the election of Tuesday, Nov. 3, when President Roosevelt and Governor Horner were returned to office for anpther four years. Polling the heaviest vote ever recorded in MoHienry township, 1970 voters cast their ballots in the three local precincts during the day, with a total of 506 votes in the first precinct, 619 in the second and 846 in the third precinct. In contrast to the election of four years ago when the three McHenry precincts showed a solid Democratic majority of 284 Democratic votes, two of the precincts this year returned to the G. O. P. fold with a majority of 223 Republican ballots. Even the third precinct, a well known Democratic stronghold, appeared to be slipping this year, going Democratic only by a majority of 39 straight tickets in comparison to its big majority of 229 Democratic ballots four years The first precinct showed 205 straight Republican and 90 Democrat-, ic ballots voted this year and the second precinct recorded 262 Republican straights and 154 Democratic. Despite the prevailing cold, blustery weather never in McHenry's history had so many voters besieged the polls up to the cloving hour of five o'clock, piling up a total of 1970 votes. The nearest to this record was approached in the election of 1932 when President Hoover was buried politically under an avalanche of New Deal votes, a total of 1827 cast in the three McHenry precincts.
