Village News Last Wednesday. March 24, the auxiliary held its election of officers for the new year. The new officers are president, Steph Szarek; vice-presi<3ent, Lyda Diedrich;* secretary, Pat MoirLson: treasurer, Lou Bitterman; trustees, Mesdames Hyatt, Para, Nielson, O'Leary and Kraus. Chairman of the ways and means committee is Mrs. Helen Buchwalter. This year the trustees will act" as the ways and means committee. After the meeting the -hostesses Mesdames Simons. Schaefer, Sarley and Patterson, served coffee and cake. Installation of officers will take place at the next monthly meeting. Congratulations to the new officers and good luck in the coming year in everything you may undertake. To the outgoing officers many thanks for all the hard work you put into the organization the past year and may you keep giving your support this next year. Last Friday evening there was a meeting of the* house committee. with twelve representatives of six organizations of the community. Hen: y Hoppert acted as temporary chairman and a discussion took place of the general purpose of this organization. Joe Gilmore was sleeted chairman and Mrs. Jenny McDermott was elected secretary. There will be another meeting Friday, April 2. to ftr.m rules and regulations for the committee. Special Notice The women's auxiliary of Lakemoor will sponsor movies in the fire house every Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. for both children and adults. St rat ton has appointed Troy A. Kost of Astoria as assistant director of the state Department of Public Works and Buildings, effective immediately. Kost replaces Thomas . Humphris, who resigned Feb. 1. Kost comes to his new post after ten years as executive secretary of the Township Officials of Illinois. He has a background of twenty-five years experience in supervising highway construction and maintenance work for governmental agencies and private firms. Spring Grove By Mrs. Charles Freund The Birthday club met at the home of Mrs. Mark Pierce on Thursday afternoon. Games of five hunared were played and prizes went to Mrs. Russell Rudolph, Mrs. Lizzie Freund, Mis. Frank May, Mrs. Peter May arid Mrs. Lester Siedschlag. A lovely lunch was served after cards. The Christian Mothers and Children of Mary sodalities met at St. Peter's parish hall on Thursday night for their regular meeting.^ Following the meeting and a talk by Fr. Daleiden, cards and bunco were played. Prizes went to Mrs. Math Nimsgern, Mrs. Arthur Kattner and Mrs. Fiances Widhalm in cards and in bunco to Mrs. Greg Kattner, Mrs. Del Smith and Miss Pat Busch. A committee was selected for the April meeting, with Mrs. John Miller as chairman. Refreshments were served. Dr. and Mrs. L. L. Kagan and family, Mrs. Charles Freund and Mr. and Mrs. William Rust and "family of Wauconda greatly enjoyed the Passion Play presented by the students of Salvatorian seminary at St. Nazianz, Wis., on Sunday.. Leigh Kagan took part in the play. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Desmond and children of Woodstock were Sunday visitors in, the Clarence Miller home. Mrs. John Jung vislted Mrs. Daisy Brown at St. Joseph's home in Freeport on Sunday. Quite a few from here enjoyed the band concert and songs by the chorus at the high school auditorium in Richmond on Friday night. Also greatly enjoyed were the performances of the baton twirlers from both grade school - and high school. Members of her club met at the home of Mrs. William Britz on Thursday afternoen.
