The Scouts, along with their adult leaders, were escorted around the air base by Sgt. William Soucie, local resident who is assigned to the base. Among the highlights of the trip were going through an Air Force flying boxcar plane; seeing the inside of/ a Jet fighter; hearing a talk by Col. Johnson, commanding officer of the base; having pictures taken by a staff photographer; talking witb a jet pilot on the ready line and eating in the Air Force mess hall. Patrol leaders of Troops 162 and 164' went on a seven-mile hike as part of their junior leaders' training course Monday evening. The adult leaders of the two troops have been conducting the course over the past several weeks in an effort to give young men a better understanding of leading their patrols. Ten patrol leaders have attended all of the sessions and five of the boys have missed only one or two meetings. As soon as the junior leaders complete an overnight camp in a group, junior leaders' certificates will be awarded. JOSEPH BROWNS RESIDE IN SPRING GROVE AFTER TRIP A wedding of interest to many was the wedding of Miss Carol Denman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Denman of Ingleside, and Joseph Brown, son of Mrs. Clara Brown of Spring Grove, on April 24. Mrs. Cecelia Wirtz, sister of the groom, was matron of honor and bridemaids were Joyce Engelhardt and Mary Voss, friends of the bride. Pauline Ann Brown, cousin of the groom, was junior bridesmaid. A1 Wirtz served as best man and groomsmen were Eugene Oxtoby and Tony Popelka. Little Chuckle Brown was ring bearer. A wedding breakfast was served at Richmond Country club to twenty guests and in the evening at 5 p.m., a reception was held for approximately 250 guests. The groom attended Richmond- Burton high school and the bride is a graduate of Grant Community high school. Both are employed at Johns-Mans ville in Waukegan.
