The Tigers picked up one run at a time until the eighth when a 4-run inning put '.|ie, victory away. Charlie Hiller was"home for the weekend and took his old position at third base for the home team. Richmond trotted* out IS players, but could not combine a scoring punch against the veteran Toomey's offerings. Barth had a perfect 4 for 4 day at bat for Johnsbur? while Manager Howie Katz smacked out three hits, including a threebase blow. Bob Peisert, who has been hustling in the Tiger infield, was next in line for batting honors with 2 out of 4. Next Sunday Johnsburg travels to Algonquin, where a choice game seems certain. These two teams have staged some great battles in the past few years and a natural rivalry has been built up- On Friday evening of t^is week,- , the Fort Sheridan . nine will play the Tigers at Johnsburg in a scheduled Illinois-Wisconsin league game. The Tfche The Cincinnati Redlegs get quite a kick out of a story they toil on Ted Kluszewski. It seems that Big Klu was coming out of a movie when he spied a spectator sitting on the aisle whom he thought was Harry Perkowski, his teammate, because of the extra large nose, says the Sporting News. Klu playfully tweaked the spectator's nose, said "Beep, beep," and walked back to his hotel. As Ted entered the lobby, the first person he saw was Perkowski, sitting in a big, comfortable chair . . . "Hey," said Klu-' szewski. How long you been sitting here?" . . , "All day," replied Perkowski. Mahogany trees are traditionally cut by moonlight. Richmond (1) ,, AB B. MDFNRY MKKS WM BALL GAME FROM FOX LAKE The Crystal Lake Boosters Play Here Sunday Afternoon JThe McHenry Micks went over to Fox Lake Sunday and won a county league ball game by a count, of 8 to 2. As far as run production was concerned, the winners had enough in the first inning before the Fox Lake boys had picked up a bat. Three walks and an error put the first four batters on base and all four scored. A two-bagger by Bee knell was the big blow and the only hit of the inning. "Sonny" Miller was the Winning pitcher and also rates as the hitter of. the day. He hit a home run and two doubles. Fox Lake batters hit the bail hard in the sceond inning, but were held in check the r*»jt of the way. Leuth's hcrr.zr and Jim Jackson's triple were the distance blow# in the inning as the losers scored two runs. The Crystal Lake Boosters will be here next Sunday to meet the Micks at 2 p.m. Jim Jackson, "1 2 Raffel, p . ? > ; 0 0 A. Secretary Carpentier said that while Illinois cars dominate the field of entries, many enthusiasts drive or truck their mechanical pets great distances to the meet each year. The secretary has reason enough to be interested 'n futomobiles, with registrations passing through his office in numbers rapidly approaching 3,000,- 000 a year. Mr. Carpentier illustrated expected volume of entries tor the Aug. 21 meet by citing /the 5f> Model T Fords that aompeted in 1953. Other categories, he said, include "hijgnwheelers," steamers, electrics, "special merit" machines and the vasi variety of collector's items from the "acetylene" and vintage eras. The Antique Auto and Sports Car meet and exhibit, which has become an integral part of the huge Springfield fair, will wind up with the usual banquet, Mr. Carpentier said. Winners in all classifications will be announceo and awards presented at the banquet.
