THE McHENRY PLADTOEALER Army Begins CampoignTo Strengthen lOth Division Prior To Transfer. .Young men who would like to take a cost-free trans-Atlantic summer voyage, and at the same time be paid for making, the trip, are now offered the oportunity. Tours of scenic and historic attractions in Europe also will be available to_them. The ldth infantry division of Fort Riley, Kas., is scheduled for transfer to Europe, beginning next summer. An intensive campaign to bring it up to full strength betwfeen now and July was announced by the U.S. Army Recruiting Service. The best opportunities for preferred assignment and future advancements await those who take immediate advantage of the chance to join. Details may be obtained at the Army recruiting office at Woodstock city hall on Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, and on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Army recruiter, M/Sgt. The privilege of serving in an organization with an already outstanding record and set to 'go places.' "4. The knowledge that Fort Riley, historic post that played a major role in settlement of the nation's Western Frontier, will be the 10th Division's permanent station and that it will return there at the conclusion of three years overseas." Prior Service Vets The 10th division welcomes men with prior military service and new recruits to its ranks, for three-year enlistments or longer. Simultaneous movement of the 10th infantry division from Fort Riley to Europe and return of the 1st (Big Red One) infantry division, long overseas, to Fort Riley marks the first transfer of entire divisions in "Operations (jfyroscope," recently announced by the Department of the Army. Under this new rotation system, a radical change from the previous policy of individual replacement, the replacement of entire units overseas by like units from the United States will be effected. Exchange of the 1st and 10th divisions is the first in a series of such switches planned eacht year, starting in 1955. The Department of the Army has stated that a total of eight divisions are scheduled for rotation annually, four going overseas to replace four returned home. It is estimated that nearly three years will be required to complete a rotation cycle of all divisions. The same pattern of rotation will be followed for selected separate regiments and battalions of the combat arms. Name President Of Illinois Gas Willis Gale, chairman of Northern Illinois Gas company, has announced that directors have elected Marvin Chandler as president to succeed H. P. Sedwick, who was named' vice-chairman. The new gas company was established last February to take over operation of the gas properties of the Public Service company division of Commonwealth Edison company. "An important phase of preparation for ultimate separation of gas and electric operations," Mr. Gale said, "Is the selection of a full executive staff capable of successfully conducting all aspects of the gas business without the guidance of the Edison organization. Mr. Chandler's background in finance and rate making, together with his general business experience, is just what Northern Illinois Gas needs to supplement the outstanding gas operating organization built up over the years by Public Service Company of Northern Illinois." A further step in the program to develop a full executive organization is the election as vicepresident of E. D. Sheehan who has been an assistant vice-president. Mr. Sheehan, with increased responsibility, will have direct charge of operations Under E. E. Lungren, executive vice-president of Northern Illinois Gas company. Mr. Gale said that Mr. Sedwick, who is president of Edison's Public Sfervice company division and also executive vice-president of Edison,' will, as vice-chairman of Northern Illinois Gas, help Messrs.
