Each year since the inauguration of this custom, the Kiwanis Club has arranged a banquet for the players, their families and friends. Each year the members of the team themselves have chosen one, who, in their estimation, has been the outstanding player of the yea?. This player was judged by a jury of his peers and found .to possess those qualities which will lead him to success in life. To be a succ^y/bi the field of athletics and in the infinitely broader field of the world beyond the schoolroom, a boy must possess certain, definite qualifications. He must play fair. He must have a highjyd^gree of good sportsmanship. He must meet victory with humility and ^defeat with courage and graciousness. He must live his personal life so as to inspire those who look to him for leadership. He must, in fact, live his life as if he faced an audience always. To this outstanding young man, Kiwanis pays special tribute by placing his name on the Kiwanis trophy, along with those of other players chosen in other years. To those charming young ladies, the cheerleaders, Kiwanis also pays tribute. Theirs was the important task of encouraging the players, and lending enthusiasm to the spectators. To the coaches, the teachers and to all of the faculty, without whom, the team could not have functioned, Kiwanis gives Well-deserved recognition. To the parents, friends and guests here assembled, and to the business men of McHenry Township who contributed to the success of this banquet, we, the Kiwanis Club, say Thank You.
