Our track is designed to test the skill of the riders and also permits a high level of rider and spectfttor safety. „ New rules which will govern our track in the coming year have been recently approved by the competition committee. TTie new rules are: 1. All motorcycles competing must be equipped with snap throttle which is set to automatically shut down. Jhis will prevent the possibility of a runaway cycle. 2. All road machines competing must haVe their headlights taped. This will prevent the scattering of glass on the track. 3. A.M.A. Approved Helmets must be worn by All riders. There will be no exceptions. 4. No riders will be allowed on the track until the ambulance has arrived and taken its position. Races will be held up, in the event that the ambulance must leave to take a rider to the'hospital, until it returns. 5. No spectators will be allowed to cross the track or enter on the track at any time. All formerly passed rules concerning riders will be discussed before every race. These rules will go into effect starting with our first race on May 22, which will be a benefit race for the Mental Health Center of McHenry County. Other-safety features include an ambulance with the necessary first aid equipment, inspection of the track by an appointed member before races begin, flag men at all points of danger, and a communications system which enables us to dispatch the ambulance at a moment's notice. SUMMARY OF BASEBALL AT McHENRY HIGH Team Building For Future With Fine Sophs and Juniors CRYSTAL LAKE TOPS SHAMROCKS 12 TO 5 IN WARM-UP GAME By Mickey Schaefer Last Sunday at Crystal Lake the Shamrocks played a warmup game against Crystal Lake in preparing for the season opener next Sunday, May 1. Crystal Lake won the game 12-5. Denny Freund led our attack with three hits. Schaefer, Benson, Mai, and Gene Freund got our remaining four hits. We had three extra base hits, a triple by Denny Freund, and doubles by Roger Benson and Gene Freund. Jim Wickencamp pitched the first four innings, giving up,one run which was earned. Gene Freund pitched the next three innings, giving up eight: runs, three of them earned. Ron Mauer pitched the last inning, giving: up three runs, two of them being earned. The Shamrocks scored in,the sixth inning when Roger Benson hit a line shot double to left scoring Denny . Freund who had singled earlier. W£ scored our second run in the seventh when Chuck Pierce walked and scored on a double by Gene Freund. We scored again in the seventh when Denny Freund brought Gene home with a single. The Shamrocks added a run in the eighth and ninth innings thanks to some poor fielding by Crystal Lake.
