Dud and Dee Gregg had a wonderful week's vacation In northern Wisconsin. They did some fishing. While they were gone the children were cared for by Grandmother Harris. Last Sunday a surprise party was held in my home for the most wonderful woman in the world, my mother. It was in honor of her birthday. In on t he fun were my sister and her family from Noi4hlake and two aunts and uncles from Cicero and naturally my dad. We had a steak dinner, presents and a huge birthday cake. Christine Wroblewski is visiting her cousins, Janet and Barbara Wilson. Christine is from Chicago. The Brownies held their picnic last Thursday at beach 1. Tommy and Dale Morin spent last week with their Grandparents, Mprin in Chicago. The Eides have returned home after spending one week in Minnesota. While they were there they attended the State Fair. The daughter of Mrs. Hazel Biddle of Christine avenue . is seriously ill after surgery in the Edgewater hospital in Chi-, capo. All her neighbors and friends are wishing her a speedy recovery. Lorraine Lindemann spent last Monday in Chicago visiting with Herb's sister, Norene Albrecht. Tom and Mary Cocoran left the Highlands to spend some time in Hot Springs, Ark. Bill and Jeanne Barron drove to Minnesota over the Labor Day holiday and brought back their three children who had been staying with grandparents since Memorial Day. 'Both mom and dad missed the little ones and were glad to ^el them home again. Happy birthday to my oldest son, Dickie, who will be eight years old on Sept. 13. As yet any plans for a party are at loose ends, but he no doubt will celebrate with his friends from the block. On Sept. 3. Bob and Lorraine Hurckos and family visited in Kenosha, Wis., with Bob's brother, Dick Hurckes, and his family. Mrs. Ed Malinowski and Ed, Jr., spent lour days last, week visiting with Kay Reillv and family. Kay and Mrs. Malinowski are sisters. Ed and Virginia Thoren entertained Ed's folks and his brother, Bill, and family from Chicago on Aug. 28 Tom and Lois Mason attended the christening of their niece. Karen Ann, in Chicago on Aug. 28. A birthday dinner party was held last Sunday in the Rogde home in honor of Pat Rogde who celebrated her twentyfourth birthday. She brought along a few girl friends to help celebrate the occasion. They all enjoyed Hazel's good cooking. The surprise party held on Aug. 27 with Dick and Lee Conway as guests of honor turned out quite well. They were shocked when we all came tooting horns and extending our best wishes. They received a set of china, a cotfee pot and various other useful items that were purchased at the local variety store. The old. old story of dogs running loose is agaip causing some trouble. They have been kept lied up for awhile ' but maybe now that fall is conjing their owners feel it is alright for their pets to run loose. Please if your dog is running loose, try to confine it to your own property. The majority of people have enough to do around their home without picking up garbage; and .other messes. I don't know how many residents got to see the parade in Johnsburg on Aug. 28. but the float entered by Pist a k e e Highlands was the result of the efforts of five people. Carol Mecko left last Sunday to go back to school where she will be a senior. Next summer will be her last summer home for awhile and we miss her already and she has only been gone for a few days.
