BE WISE - SHOP IN McHENRY SCOUT COUNCIL SENDS CONTINGENT TO WORLD'S FAIR The Blackhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, will send a contingent of Scouts and leaders to serve as members of the Scout Service corps at the New York World's Fair. The age requirement for participation is 14 through 18 years of age for Scouts and Explorers. Reinhold G. Miller, Scout executive, said that the contingent will be cortiposed of thirty-six, Scouts and Explorers. During the World's Fair-in 1964, 2,244 Scouts and Explorers from thirty-threfe states served as members of the Scout Service corps on weekly basis with 232 leaders. In a survey made of 500 of the 2,244 Scouts of the 1964 Scout Service corps, 93 per cent of those questioned recommended the fair to other Scouts, as "an educational experience." The fair may be called a university all within itself. As the week of service progresses for the Scouts at the fair, they may see the waning of one generation and make a very wise guess about the domestic life of the next. The Blackhawk , contingent will be on duty at the fair from July 28 to Aug. 4. In addition to the week at the fair, trips have been planned to New York City, Washington and Philadelphia. All interested adult leaders should contact the Scout Service center for additional formation. Robert Moses, President of the New York World's Fair 1964-1965 corporation, said: "The Scouts are not merely exhibitors here; they are part of the machinery and operations of the fair." FEED GRAIN PROGRAM The sign-up for the 1965 feed grain program now is under way in the ASCS county office Bert Bridges, chairman, McHenry County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee, has announced. The sign-up period started Feb. 8 and will continue through March 26. The chairman explained that the program for 1965 is basically the same as in 1964. It is voluntary, and combines com, grain sorghum, and barley in a single feed grain base. Participating farmers will qualify for diverted acre and price support payments, and , they will be eligible for price support loans. Farmers who take part in the program may divert for payment as small an acreage as 20 percent of the farm's feed grain base or as large an acreage as 50 percent of the base--or 25 acres, if this is larger.
