The new company will be called McHenry FS, Inc. An historic merger came about last week which will result in a stronger, bigger company better able to vie in a highly competitive business requiring huge capital. On Thursday, May 20, farmer- owners of the McHenry County Service Company and the McHenry County Farmers CorOperative Association voted to join their companies into one. The overall results can be described quickly: The new McHenry FS, Inc. will enable farmers to save more on their farm product purchases and increase net income. The new farmer-owned cooperative becomes an entity on June 1. It will be a company with a foundation of $2.5 million sales in the last fiscal years for the two out-going companies. McHenry FS will have four locations from which to give farmers in every part of the county service -- Woodstock, McHenry, Chemung and Marengo. Robert Gardner, president of the Service Company, will be president of the new McHenry FS. Under the merger agreement, officers of the Service Company--and all seven board members -- will be retained. James Curran, president, and George Schmitt, vice-president, will be added to the board of McHenry FS. Curran and Schmitt headed the McHenry Farmers Co-Op. Shareholders met at the Farm Bureau office on May 20 to vote on the plan of merger. The vote was overwhelmingly in favor -- 89.9 per cent of the Service Company proxies and 75 per cent of thei Co-Op prox-i ies were returned in favor of the merger. Harry Meloy, veteran Illinois Agricultural Association legal counsel and an expert on mergers and farmer cooperatives was present to assist with the plan. Stanley Steagall, manager of the Service Company since 1958, will continue as manager of the remaining company. McHenry Co-Op was formed 44 years ago. New officers are Mrs. Eva Freund, president, and Mrs. Pat Rinda, secretary, for a term of two years. They will serve along with Mrs. Evelyn May, vice president and Mrs. Carol Brown, treasurer, who have one more year to finish their term. Outgoing officers are Mrs. Heineman, president, and Mrs. Joan May, secretary. , These officers are to be commended for their untiring efforts and good work done during the past two years. Preceding the meeting services were held in church. Six new members were enrolled in the society and given membership medals. New members are Rosemary White, Louise Sullivan, Denise Aubert, Joanne Stanek, Margaret Sodano and Pauline Stockl. Rev. Edward Lehman, pastor, presented Mrs. Frances Heineman with a gold medal in recognition for her splendid leadership and the cooperation given in the many projects and tasks during her term as president. Prayers to our Blessed Mother concluded the services. All members proceeded to the hall where a pot-luck supper was served them buffet style with Father Lehman and the nuns as guests. Following supper, the installation ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Catherine Kagan. There was a short business meeting. New members were welcomed and guests were introduced. Plans were completed for the school picnic .sponsored by the society, which will be held in Wilmot Park on June X. A luncheoncard party for June 22 was also announced. Bowling Banquet Members of the Holy Name Society of St. Peter's who were on the bowling teams held their annual dinner in the parish hall at the end of Ihe bowling season, on Tuesday night. Wives and girl friends were also invited and were present to enjoy this delicious meal. Graduation Graduates of St. Peter's school will receive their diplomas on Thursday night at 7:30 in the church. Preceding this ceremony there will be a procession to the outside grotto and crowning of the Blessed Virgin. The class received Holy Communion at the eight o'clock mass on Sunday. Events The Catholic Youth Group will, enjoy an outing at Riverview on June 2. The school picnic is scheduled for June 8 at Wilmot Park. Entertain for Graduation Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith entertained eighty guests in their home on Sunday in honor of their daughter, Nancy, who is a graduate of Richmond-Burton high school. Graduation exercises were held at the high school auditorium on Sunday afternoon. Guests were present from Milwaukee, Mount Prospect, Rockford, Crystal Lake, McHenry, Wonder Lake, Richmond and Zenda, Wis. Out of State Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freund had a surprise visit from their son, Dan, his wife, Ruth, and baby daughter, Debbie, when they drove in from Grand Forks, N. D. on Sunday.
